Alexandra Welles, formerly Alexandra Duval, is a second generation equestrian. Her mother grew up riding with Ralph Caristo before passing along the riding bug to Alex. Alex began riding at a young age on Long Island, New York where she rode a variety of horses and ponies. Spending hours at the barn each day, Alex found her passion for horses very early in life.

At just 13 years old, Alex began traveling to Wellington, Florida in the winters to train with renowned trainers Pamela Polk and Jeffery Welles (no relation to Andrew). She competed in the Junior Jumpers and the equitation accumulating wins at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), Ox Ridge, Fairfield, Vermont, Old Salem Farm, Lake Placid and the Hampton Classic.

After graduating from the junior ranks, Alex began her business management degree at Florida Atlantic University. While continuing to compete as an amateur in the jumper ring, she added multiple Grand Prix and U25 results across the United States to her resume. While she has had success on many horses, she is most often associated with XM, a long time partner with whom she was US Equestrian Horse of the Year in the Amateur Owner Jumpers in 2015 and 2017.

In 2016, Alex and Andrew wed at a romantic destination wedding at Casa De Campo in the Dominican Republic surrounded by friends and family. The couple welcomed their first daughter in 2019, Anderson Reese, and in 2021 welcomed their second daughter, Adeline Rose.

In 2022, Alex made the decision to leave her successful amatuer career behind and turn professional in order to move to the forefront of the operations at Team Welles. Alex is essential to the day-to-day management of Team Welles, while also training and continuing to campaign her exciting string of horses.
